I can dream can't I?

I rarely ever use a background that doesn’t matter to me, this time is no different. I love the show “Heroes”, or any show like it. I am often inspired by the linear distinctions of good vs. evil. It is liberating being an American to see the juxtaposition of our reality and our entertainment. The contrast can ,on the surface, be almost clear cut. But there has always for me been this connection to all of them…in order to be a cool character you need a special power.

A power to fly, read minds, invincibility, and of course some type of weapon can be harnessed from your eyes or hands. I find these powers to be so limiting, as well as the imagination of the writers.

Then there are the great minds…the Charles Xavier’s of the sci-fi world. They have this zen like quality that makes me always ask the following questions:

Why if the characters with powers of the mind are great, why do the uber-minded people have little or no control?
How can we be so fearful of being omnipotent?
Is it not true that the mind is limitless?
Why must I delve deeper into the minds ability and find nothing more than a sociopath?

I call it the “elementary school mentality”, the smarter you are, the less likely you are to be “cool”. You need to have the escape tactics in an effort to be “cool”, look at me I can fly…I have long claws that can pierce anything.
I understand that this is nothing more than a sci-fi debate, but go deeper, isn’t that our problem…we scoff at intellect, or it is generally we have intellectual measurements that gives us the “haves” and the “have nots”. We honor muscle and abhor the mind. We celebrate emotions, but stifle the very thing that controls it.
Imagine a society where intellect was placed at the forefront of our priorities. Imagine a world where there were 30 Bill Gates, 100 Einsteins, or 1,000,000 Malcolms. Well I guess we will be satisfied with a flying man or a mind reader…

I just hope one day we will be driven to have every mind that can read.

you can dream and be all you can be and why is it that people seem to think there dreams are a better fit then your??? Why does it always have to be a "power strugle".It isn't in winning or losing it is how you play the game!!
